Some controversy surrounds the Billy Cook saddle brand. Originally built by Billy Cook, he went out of business and sold his designs to Simco/Longhorn. Sometime later he reopened his company again applying his name to his saddles. Billy Cook saddle purists will say that unless the saddle is built in Sulphur, OK under his supervision and has the logo with “Saddle Maker” on it, it’s not a real Billy Cook saddle. Others say that Simco/Longhorn make the original Billy Cook because these are his original designs.
